Mentoring
Mentoring That shapes Minds and builds confidence
At HOME Mentoring & Tutoring, we believe every child deserves a strong support system outside the classroom. Our EmpowerHER and EmpowerHIM mentoring programs give students a safe space to grow—emotionally, socially, and academically—so they can thrive in school and in life.
We See the Challenges They Face
Raising confident, emotionally secure kids isn’t easy in today’s world. Whether your child is struggling with peer pressure, low self-worth, or simply lacking positive role models, you’re not alone—and we’re here to help.
Confidence Gaps
Many children wrestle with insecurity and self-doubt, especially during their formative years. Without support, those gaps can affect friendships, schoolwork, and self-esteem.
Emotional & Social Stress
Big feelings, peer dynamics, and academic pressure can overwhelm kids. Our mentoring programs help them navigate these emotions with confidence.
Lack of Positive Role Models
Every child deserves someone to look up to. We provide consistent, caring mentors who model leadership, responsibility, and kindness.
A Simple Path to Growth
Our mentoring model is structured, intentional, and focused on building lasting impact—while being flexible enough to meet each child where they are.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the mentoring program different from tutoring?
Tutoring focuses on academics. Mentoring focuses on the whole child—helping them build self-confidence, leadership, and emotional skills that support every area of their life, including school.
Who leads the mentoring sessions?
Our mentoring sessions are led by trained, compassionate adults who are experienced in youth development, social-emotional learning, and culturally responsive care. Many are educators, community leaders, or parents themselves.
Is this program for students with behavioral or emotional challenges?
Our program welcomes all students. Whether your child needs extra guidance, a safe space to express themselves, or just someone to believe in them—we’re here to support their growth.
What is the time commitment?
Mentoring sessions are held monthly and include group discussions, activities, and occasional community outings. Each session typically lasts 60–90 minutes.
What age groups can participate?
Our EmpowerHER and EmpowerHIM programs are currently open to students in 3rd through 8th grade. We group students by age to ensure sessions are developmentally appropriate.
How long is the program and when does it start?
Program duration varies based on your child’s needs, but most families enroll for 8–12 weeks leading up to the spring ILEARN assessment. We recommend starting as early as possible.
